TMC Responds to Allegations
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has addressed reports claiming that party MP Abhishek Banerjee received a notice from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) concerning several properties allegedly linked to West Bengal's former Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee's nephew. According to TMC, this notice is entirely false, fabricated, and baseless. A statement from the party indicated that they have received media coverage and posts related to a KMC notice that was 'informally' leaked by the BJP.
Furthermore, the statement mentioned that the notice refers to multiple properties supposedly associated with Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of AITC, and attempts to implicate other leaders in the matter. The ongoing notice and media coverage over the past few days are completely untrue, concocted, and unfounded. TMC urged journalists, who possess a basic understanding of ethics and comprehension, to verify the facts by visiting the addresses mentioned in the notice instead of propagating the rumors spread by the BJP.
They warned the media to exhibit sensitivity and responsibility rather than promote such fabricated news and stories. Any form of false reporting or misleading posts will be subject to appropriate legal action in competent courts. This warning follows reports stating that the KMC, managed by TMC, issued notices regarding several properties linked to the party's national general secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee, demanding an investigation into approved building plans and related documents.
According to a report, notices have been sent concerning 17 to 21 properties owned or associated with Banerjee and his family members, to verify whether the constructions at these sites comply with the plans approved by the corporation. Properties under scrutiny include Abhishek Banerjee's residence at 188A Harish Mukherjee Road, a nearby building on Kalighat Road, and several other premises located on Premendra Mitra Sarani, Panditia Road, and Ustad Amir Khan Sarani.
