Internal Strife in TMC Intensifies

The ongoing turmoil within the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has escalated as Kalyan Banerjee, a staunch ally of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, openly criticized her nephew and party general secretary, Abhishek Banerjee. Kalyan Banerjee expressed his loyalty to Mamata but insisted that she must choose between him and Abhishek, stating, "Mamata Di needs to decide if she can run the party without Abhishek Banerjee. If not, I will not remain."

Court Proceedings and Allegations

Kalyan Banerjee also addressed the Calcutta High Court regarding Abhishek Banerjee's refusal to appear in a case linked to the CID. He mentioned that the case had already been filed previously. He waited all day for the vacation bench to hear the matter, but it did not occur. After bringing it to the judge's attention, he was informed that the hearing would take place on Wednesday. Notably, a search was conducted at Abhishek's residence and Mamata's office on Tuesday.

Concerns Over Legality of Searches

Kalyan Banerjee recounted his presence during the searches and emphasized the necessity of addressing the legality of these actions in court. He argued that the searches were unlawful since they had already been conducted. Despite his efforts to prepare for the case overnight, he felt disrespected by Abhishek's attitude, claiming that Abhishek treats everyone as inferior. "I have been in this profession for 45 years, and many know me as a senior lawyer. Yet, they have become so arrogant that they show no respect for anyone. That is why I have stepped back," he stated. He urged Mamata to choose between him and Abhishek.
