TMC's Organizational Restructuring in West Bengal
The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) declared on June 3 that it will dissolve all its committees and affiliated organizations in West Bengal as part of a significant organizational restructuring aimed at strengthening the party. This decision comes in light of rising dissent within the Trinamool Congress (TMC), highlighted by the absence of several legislators from crucial organizational meetings and the recent expulsion of two members due to internal strife.

In a statement released on social media, the party announced that after thorough discussions, all committees and affiliated organizations of the AITC in West Bengal would be dissolved immediately. The party also mentioned that it would conduct a comprehensive internal process involving self-reflection, performance reviews, and organizational assessments at all levels. Based on the findings of this process, the AITC plans to restructure its core organization and all affiliated bodies, with an announcement to follow at an appropriate time.
Reaffirming its commitment to strengthening the party, the AITC stated that this initiative aims to prepare the organization with renewed energy and determination for future challenges. On the same day, members of the alleged rebel faction claimed to have the support of a majority of the 80 TMC legislators opposing the appointment of Shobhandeb Chattopadhyay as the leader of the opposition by Mamata Banerjee.

TMC legislator Mustafizur Rahman commented on the nominations, stating, "We do not have an exact number... I heard from outside that 59 signatures have been collected. I have also signed..." Another legislator, Priya Paul, declined to comment immediately, saying, "I am going inside (the assembly), I will inform you after the meeting." Earlier this week, the AITC expelled two legislators, Sandipan Saha and Ritabrata Banerjee, from primary membership due to allegations of anti-party activities. These political developments followed sharp criticisms from Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who accused TMC leadership of issues related to forged signatures and internal communications.
