Sources indicated that TMC leaders expressed their intention to raise these issues but received no feedback. They accused the commission of disregarding their concerns. O'Brien mentioned that within just seven minutes of the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner told them to leave. He emphasized that they are the second-largest opposition party in Parliament. Further claims from sources suggested that the meeting concluded within seven minutes, with officials allegedly asking the delegation to exit. TMC leaders described this interaction as humiliating, asserting that it negatively impacts the functioning of the institution.
This confrontation occurred amid unprecedented circumstances, with notices reportedly submitted in both houses of Parliament demanding the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner. Following the meeting, TMC MP Sagarika Ghosh announced that the leaders would soon hold a press conference in Delhi. A joint briefing by like-minded opposition parties is scheduled at the Constitution Club at 5:00 PM. However, sources from the commission noted that when the TMC MP raised her voice, the Chief Election Commissioner requested her to maintain decorum in the commission's chamber, stating that shouting and rude behavior were inappropriate.
