Jorhat, May 30: In Titabar, the newly elected BJP MLA Dhiraj Gowala has highlighted the critical issues of deteriorating roads and severe drinking water shortages, attributing these problems to years of neglect.
“The challenges in Titabar stem from long-term disregard. The people have raised concerns about the poor state of roads and the lack of drinking water supply, among other infrastructure issues. Our immediate priority will be to repair and enhance the severely damaged roads,” Gowala stated during his first meeting with BJP workers following his election victory.
The MLA emphasized that contractors responsible for subpar work or delays would face consequences.
“If it is proven that negligence or poor-quality work by any contractor has caused suffering, we will take strict action. We are already in discussions with relevant departments to ensure accountability,” he remarked.
Gowala also pointed out the issue of unfinished government projects in the area, mentioning a model Anganwadi centre that has remained incomplete for several years.
“Upon visiting a model Anganwadi centre, I was taken aback to see that construction has not progressed even after three years. Essential parts of the structure are still lacking. I have alerted the district administration and instructed them to address this issue. Such negligence is unacceptable,” he added.
In response to claims of irregularities within the Titabar Municipal Board, the MLA assured that any evidence of misconduct would be thoroughly investigated.
“If any wrongdoing is discovered, we will ensure a proper investigation takes place. It is essential to maintain transparency and accountability in all public institutions,” Gowala affirmed.
Regarding the drinking water situation, the MLA reassured residents that stalled projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) would soon resume.
“Some projects faced delays due to a temporary halt in funding. We have been informed that the funds will be released soon. Once that occurs, the pending projects will progress, and we anticipate that residents will start receiving safe drinking water within the next two to three months,” he explained.
Union Minister of State (MoS) Pabitra Margherita was also present at the gathering, promising party workers that the BJP government is dedicated to enhancing development in Titabar.
“Titabar now benefits from a triple-engine government with support from the Centre, the State, and a BJP MLA. We are committed to ensuring that development reaches every part of Titabar. Although there is a long list of pending works, we will systematically complete them to elevate the constituency to the level of other developed areas,” Margherita stated.
