Tipra Motha Leader Issues Ultimatum to State Government Following ADC Election Victory

In the wake of a significant victory in the ADC elections, Tipra Motha leader Pradyot Kishore Debbarma has issued a stern warning to the ruling coalition. He threatens to withdraw support from the State government unless the 'Tiprasa Accord' is fully implemented. Debbarma emphasizes that the electoral success is a message to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and reflects public frustration over delays in executing key provisions. He plans to discuss these issues with Shah after the West Bengal election campaign concludes. His criticisms of the current leadership have raised eyebrows, especially given the lack of response from senior BJP officials.

Agartala, April 20: Following a decisive win in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (ADC) elections, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the leader of Tipra Motha, has issued a stern warning to the ruling coalition. He threatened to withdraw support from the State government unless the 'Tiprasa Accord' is fully enacted at the grassroots level.

Debbarma emphasized that the party's electoral triumph signifies more than just a political win; it serves as a clear message to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

He reiterated that Tipra Motha had allied with the State government based on assurances from the Centre to protect tribal rights. He warned that any failure to fulfill these promises would force the party to reassess its role within the coalition.

“We cannot remain part of the government unless the accord is implemented in its entirety,” Debbarma stated, noting that public dissatisfaction regarding the slow execution of crucial provisions was evident in the ADC election results.

He also mentioned that voters had dismissed statements made by Chief Minister Manik Saha during the campaign.

Debbarma indicated that he would address these concerns with Shah after the current election campaign in West Bengal concludes.

While he had previously commended former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Debbarma was critical of the current leadership during the campaign, accusing Saha of being “anti-tribal.” Interestingly, these comments did not elicit any immediate response from senior BJP officials in the State.
