TIPRA Motha Leader Considers Step Back from Formal Politics to Engage with Tripura's Citizens

Agartala, Sept 20: Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the founder of TIPRA Motha, has hinted at a potential withdrawal from active political roles, expressing a desire to maintain a closer connection with the people of Tripura and to address their concerns more openly.
In a recent video shared on social media, Debbarma mentioned that holding an official party role can complicate the balance between organizational duties and public interests. “I will remain in Tripura and support the people,” he affirmed.
He announced that a plenary session for TIPRA Motha is scheduled for next month, following the Village Committee elections, to deliberate on the party's future direction and his political involvement.
These comments come amid ongoing conversations regarding the implementation of the Tiprasa Accord, a significant topic in his interactions with the BJP and the central government.
Debbarma also voiced his dissatisfaction with recent events within TIPRA Motha. He referred to allegations of corruption and administrative issues within the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), stating that his attempts to instigate change have not yielded the expected outcomes. He lamented that these issues have also tarnished his reputation as the party's representative.
He emphasized that stepping back from a formal political role does not equate to withdrawing from public engagement. Instead, he intends to alter his approach while remaining committed to advocating for the interests of the people of Tripura.
