Thrissur Titans Crowned Champions

The Thrissur Titans emerged victorious in the Kerala Cricket League (KCL) by defeating the Calicut Globe Stars by four wickets in an exhilarating final. Chasing a target of 168 runs, the Titans reached 169 for six in just 19.3 overs, successfully completing the chase with three balls remaining.

Key Performers in the Final

Ahmad Imran played a pivotal role with a match-winning half-century, while captain M S Akhil contributed significantly to the team's success. Imran was honored as the Player of the Match, and Mohammed Azharuddeen from Alleppey Ripples received the Player of the Tournament award.

Calicut Globe Stars' Innings Breakdown

After winning the toss, Calicut's captain Rohan Kunnummal chose to bat first. Rohan started strong, scoring 15 runs, including a six and two fours, but the team faced early setbacks with Varun Nayanar dismissed for just two runs and Rohan himself out for 21 off 17 balls.

A solid partnership of 73 runs between Akhil Scaria and Ashwin Anand stabilized the innings, with Scaria scoring 45 runs before being dismissed by Biju Narayanan, and Ashwin contributing 40 runs. However, the Titans' bowlers made a strong comeback, limiting the scoring opportunities for Calicut's key players. Salman Nizar, Abdul Basith, and Krishnadev managed only 16, 14, and 7 runs respectively, while Abdul Ramees led the Titans' bowling attack with three wickets.

Thrissur's Chase for Glory

In pursuit of 168 runs, Thrissur faced early challenges, losing Vishnuraj for eight runs in the first over and K R Rohit for 18 runs in the fourth. However, a crucial partnership of 87 runs between Ahmad Imran and Sanjeev Satheesan turned the tide in favor of Thrissur. Imran scored an impressive 69 runs off 49 balls, while Sanjeev added 29 runs.

Despite losing two more wickets as the match neared its conclusion, captain M S Akhil remained composed, finishing unbeaten on 19 runs off 11 balls, guiding the Titans to victory. For Calicut, Ibnul Aftab and Jose Perayil each took two wickets.
