Thrissur Titans' Historic KCL Win

In a touching display of camaraderie, the Thrissur Titans celebrated their first Kerala Cricket League (KCL) victory with their injured teammate, Shoun Roger, at a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday, September 6. The Titans triumphed over the Calicut Globstars by three wickets during the KCL 2026 final held at the Greenfields International Stadium in Kerala's capital.

Chasing a target of 168 runs, the Titans successfully completed the task with three balls remaining, finishing at 19.3 overs. A pivotal 87-run partnership between Ahammed Imran (45 runs) and Sanjeev Satheesan (36 runs) was crucial in stabilizing the innings after a shaky start.

Contributions from Akhil MS (19 runs) and Nikhil Thottath (14 runs) were also vital, as they provided essential runs under pressure, bringing the Titans closer to victory. Earlier, the Titans' bowlers, led by Abdul Ramees (3/32), Sarath Prasad (2/32), and Anand Joseph (2/25), effectively limited the Globstars to a total of 167/9, setting the stage for their championship win.

Celebration at the Hospital

The Thrissur Titans made sure their injured teammate, Shoun Roger, was included in the celebrations by visiting him at the hospital shortly after their KCL victory. Roger had sustained an injury during a frightening on-field incident while attempting to catch a ball from a Calicut Globstars batter. He collided with teammate Mohammed Enaan, resulting in a knee strike to his chest that caused him to lose consciousness for nearly a minute, necessitating immediate medical attention.

After their historic win, the Titans surprised Roger at the hospital with the championship trophy. Despite being in a sling, Roger received the trophy with joy as a teammate affectionately placed it on his lap, saying, "Isn't this cup for you, dear?"

Shoun Roger's Contribution to the Team

Shoun Roger played a significant role in the Titans' journey to the final, scoring 269 runs, including a half-century, with an average of 26.90 and a strike rate of 120.63 across 12 matches. His unfortunate injury during the final match cut his participation short, making the team's visit to the hospital a heartfelt tribute to his contributions throughout the tournament.

Thrissur Titans' Performance in KCL 2026

The Thrissur Titans had an impressive run in the recently concluded third edition of the Kerala Cricket League (KCL). They finished third in the league stage with five wins and four losses, accumulating 11 points and a net run rate (NRR) of +0.141 over 10 matches.

This third-place finish allowed them to advance to the semifinals, where they narrowly defeated the Trivandrum Royals by one wicket to secure a place in the final. In the championship match, the Titans faced the Calicut Globstars, successfully chasing down their total of 167/9 to claim their first-ever title.

In the previous edition of the tournament, the Titans reached the semifinals but were defeated by the Aries Kollam Sailors by 10 wickets, missing out on the final. However, they made a remarkable comeback in 2026, showcasing resilience and skill that led to their historic victory and a celebration that will be cherished for years.
