Police Clash with Maoists in Andhra Pradesh

On Wednesday, a confrontation between police and CPI (Maoist) party members in the forests of Maredumilli, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, resulted in the deaths of three Maoists, including a central committee member. Ongoing skirmishes between security forces and Maoists have been reported.




Three Maoists Neutralized in Police Encounter


A police official confirmed the incident, stating that the operation was initiated based on intelligence reports. The identities of the deceased have not yet been disclosed. Superintendent of Police (SP) Amit Bardar from Alluri Sitarama Raju district mentioned, “Three Maoists were killed in the encounter with police.” DSP GS Prashant from Rampachodavaram added, “The bodies of the Maoists have not been recovered yet. The investigation is ongoing, and police have intensified surveillance to detect any other Maoist presence in the area.”

Just a day prior, on June 17, Maoists brutally murdered three villagers in Pedakorma village, Bijapur district, who were relatives of Maoists that had surrendered. Reports indicate that the Maoists also attacked other villagers, with claims that over a dozen individuals were abducted and taken into the forest. This attack is believed to be aimed at instilling fear among locals and punishing those associated with the surrendered Maoists.

According to police, around 4 PM on Tuesday, Maoists strangled three individuals, including a student, named Jhingu Modiyam, Soma Modiyam, and Anil Madvi. It has been reported that two of the deceased were relatives of Dinesh Modiyam, a notorious Maoist commander who had taken up arms a few months ago. Dinesh is considered one of the most dangerous Maoists in Bijapur, and his surrender would be significant for police intelligence and understanding Maoist strategies.
