Three Domestic Helpers Arrested for Stealing Gold Worth ₹85.5 Lakhs in Navi Mumbai

In Navi Mumbai, authorities have filed a case against three female domestic helpers for allegedly stealing gold jewelry, biscuits, and coins valued at ₹85.5 lakhs from the home of a 64-year-old man. This information was disclosed by officials on Wednesday.
The theft reportedly occurred between April and June at the residence of the elderly individual located in the Nerul area. During this period, all three women were employed as domestic helpers at his home.
A senior officer from the Nerul police station stated that the accused took advantage of the trust placed in them, stealing approximately 900 grams of gold jewelry, biscuits, and coins, amounting to a total value of ₹85,50,000.
According to the officer, two of the suspects reside in Nerul, while the third lives in a railway staff quarter in neighboring Mumbai. The officer noted, 'They systematically stole valuable items while performing their daily tasks, managing to avoid detection by the elderly victim.'
The police reported that on Monday, a case was registered against the three women under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to theft of property held by an employer or master by a clerk or servant, and the investigation is ongoing.
