Three Arrested in Rajasthan for Using Fake Medical Certificates

Arrests Made in Medical Fraud Case

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of Rajasthan has apprehended three individuals involved in a fraudulent scheme. Authorities disclosed this information on Thursday, revealing that the suspects are accused of utilizing counterfeit Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) certificates to secure medical internships in government hospitals.

According to Additional Director General of SOG, Vishal Bansal, the trio had obtained fake certificates to undertake internships at government medical colleges after failing to pass the mandatory FMGE in India following their medical degrees from abroad.

Bansal explained that the SOG received a tip-off regarding Dr. Piyush Kumar Trivedi from Dausa, who, despite repeated failures in the FMGE, managed to procure a fake certificate with the assistance of a criminal network. This fraudulent document enabled him to gain internship approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and secure a placement at the Government Medical College in Karauli.

Upon confirming the allegations, the SOG initiated a thorough investigation. It was revealed that Dr. Piyush had obtained his MBBS degree from Georgia but had failed the FMGE three consecutive times in 2022, 2023, and 2024. After his repeated failures, he reached out to his acquaintance, Dr. Devendra Singh Gurjar.

Dr. Devendra, along with his associate Dr. Shubham Gurjar and others, facilitated the issuance of a fake FMGE certificate and NMC registration for Piyush in exchange for 1.6 million rupees. The SOG's extensive investigation uncovered that this fraudulent operation extended beyond just one individual.

Dr. Shubham Gurjar also obtained a fake FMGE certificate to complete his internship at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Alwar, while Dr. Devendra Singh Gurjar similarly acquired a counterfeit certificate through the same network to finish his internship at Government Medical College in Dausa. The SOG has successfully arrested all three suspects: Dr. Piyush, Dr. Shubham, and Dr. Devendra.
