Mandya (Karnataka), May 25: Authorities in Karnataka have detained three individuals linked to the murder of a recently married man, which occurred after a dispute in a bar in the Maddur taluk of Mandya district, as reported by officials on Monday.

The suspects are currently in judicial custody, and the investigation is ongoing, according to Mandya Superintendent of Police V.J. Shobharani.

The tragic event unfolded on May 19 in K. Honnalagere village, where 29-year-old Sunil was fatally attacked following a quarrel that reportedly started inside the bar. A formal complaint was lodged at the Maddur Police Station after the incident. Sunil had been married just six months prior.

The individuals arrested have been named as Nishanth and Karthik from Ajjahalli village, along with Ravi from Gulurdoddi.

Reports indicate that Nishanth had borrowed ₹5 lakh from a man named Ashok, who had been persistently requesting repayment. It is alleged that Nishanth arrived at the bar with a long stick, intending to confront Ashok.

On the day of the incident, Nishanth was drinking at Deepa Bar in K. Honnalagere and appeared to be intoxicated. Witnesses noted that he was calling out to the bar cashier. Sunil and his friends were also present at a nearby table, enjoying drinks.

During the evening, Sunil reportedly challenged Nishanth, which led to a heated verbal exchange between the two groups. Although some patrons attempted to intervene, the conflict escalated outside the bar.

A physical altercation ensued, during which Nishanth and his companions allegedly attacked and killed Sunil.

Following the suspects' escape, the Mandya SP assembled a special team to locate and apprehend them. The three individuals were later arrested and brought before a court, where they were remanded to judicial custody.
