Arrests Made in Human Trafficking Incident

Authorities have apprehended three individuals, including two nuns, at the Durg railway station in Chhattisgarh in connection with alleged human trafficking and forced religious conversion. A representative from the Government Railway Police (GRP) provided this information on Sunday.

The suspects have been identified as Sukman Mandavi, Nun Preeti Mary, and Vandana Francis, all of whom were taken into custody on Friday. This action was initiated following a complaint from a local Bajrang Dal official, who accused the trio of forcibly converting three girls from Narayanpur and trafficking them.

According to the officer, statements from the girls and interrogations of the accused led to the registration of a case under the Chhattisgarh Religious Conversion Act and the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act.

The GRP official stated that the girls revealed that the nuns were luring them with job offers to take them to Agra in Uttar Pradesh. They mentioned that Mandavi had brought them to the Durg railway station, from where they were supposed to travel to Agra with the two nuns.
