Threats Against Salman Khan: Mumbai Police Take Action
Mumbai Police Respond to Threats Against Salman Khan
Mumbai: Authorities in Mumbai have received a threatening message directed at actor Salman Khan, prompting the traffic police to file a case regarding the incident, officials reported on Monday.
The alarming message, sent via the traffic police's WhatsApp helpline on Sunday, included threats to detonate the actor's vehicle and to assault him at his home, according to a police spokesperson.
Following the alert from the traffic police control room, senior officials were notified, leading to the Worli police registering a case against the unknown sender under section 351(2) (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to criminal intimidation.
An investigation into the matter is currently underway, the official confirmed.
This is not the first time the 59-year-old actor has faced threats; the traffic police helpline has previously received multiple messages targeting him.
Khan has also been the recipient of death threats from the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
Bishnoi is currently incarcerated in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad, facing charges including attempted murder and extortion. In April of last year, members of his gang reportedly fired shots outside Khan's residence in Bandra.
Subsequently, Navi Mumbai police revealed they had uncovered a plot by the Bishnoi gang to assassinate Khan during a visit to his farmhouse in Panvel, near Mumbai.
