In Thane district, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has apprehended an Assistant Police Inspector (API) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 in exchange for assistance in a legal matter. This information was confirmed by an official on Saturday.


The API, identified as Sanjay Dhondiram Bidgar, aged 48, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe on Friday at the Ulhasnagar police station.


According to the official, the complainant, along with his wife and son, had a case registered against them at the Ulhasnagar police station. The accused officer allegedly demanded ₹20,000 to refrain from arresting the trio and to provide 'help' in the case.


The complainant reached out to the Thane ACB, which conducted a preliminary verification before setting up a trap. The official noted that a case has been filed against Bidgar under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigations are ongoing.
