Terrorist Neutralized in Kishtwar: Ongoing Operations Intensify in Jammu and Kashmir
Joint Security Forces Strike Against Terrorism
Jammu: A terrorist was eliminated during a coordinated operation targeting militants in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, according to officials.
The operation, which commenced on April 9 in the Chatroo region, involved both the army and various security forces.
"This operation was initiated based on precise intelligence, leading to an encounter with the terrorists, resulting in one being neutralized. The search efforts, conducted by the Army and police, are ongoing to locate additional terrorists hiding in the dense forest areas," an official stated.
Simultaneously, another operation is underway in the Joffar forest area, falling under the jurisdiction of the Ramnagar police station in Udhampur district.
A Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was initiated on April 9, with reports indicating that three terrorists are currently trapped within the secured zone.
A local resident, Rachpal, informed security forces that three armed terrorists dressed in black entered his home around 8:30 p.m. on April 9 and departed around 11:30 p.m.
Following this information, security forces reinforced their cordon, and with additional support, they are closing in on the terrorists' location, as per the latest updates.
Earlier, on March 3, a police team swiftly responded to Sanyal village in the Hiranagar area of Kathua district, where five terrorists were sighted.
Given that Sanyal village is located just 4 km from the international border, it is believed that these terrorists had recently infiltrated into Indian territory.
The group managed to escape from Sanyal to the Safiyun Jakhole area, where a sustained gunfight ensued, resulting in the death of two terrorists.
Tragically, four policemen lost their lives during this encounter. In an effort to locate the remaining three terrorists, joint forces launched a 'seek & destroy' operation, extending their efforts to the higher terrains of Kathua and Rajouri districts.
A brief exchange of gunfire occurred between the terrorists and the joint forces in the Billawar area of Kathua district.
On April 8, Union Home Minister Amit Shah convened a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar, attended by key officials including the J&K Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, and the army chief.
The Home Minister commended the joint forces for their efforts in combating terrorism but emphasized the need for a complete eradication of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly focusing on the Jammu division.
