Terrorist Infiltration Attempt Foiled in Jammu: Seven Militants Neutralized

Major Security Operation in Jammu

In Jammu, Border Security Force (BSF) personnel successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt on Friday, resulting in the deaths of seven terrorists in the Samba district.

According to BSF officials, a well-armed group attempted to cross into Indian territory, receiving cover fire from Pakistan Rangers.

The operation is ongoing, with sources confirming that the terrorists were neutralized during their infiltration attempt.

The terrorists had previously targeted defense installations in Jammu, Samba, R.S. Pura, and surrounding areas with drones and low-range missiles, which were intercepted by vigilant BSF troops.

The BSF spokesperson reported that the major infiltration attempt occurred around 11 p.m. on Thursday, forcing the terrorists to retreat back into Pakistan.

In a related incident, heavy mortar shelling from Pakistan resulted in civilian casualties in the Uri sector of Baramulla district late Thursday, where a woman named Nargis Begum was killed and another, Hafeeza Begum, was injured.

Officials noted that a vehicle traveling from Razerwani to Baramulla was struck by a shell fired from across the Line of Control (LoC).

The Pakistan Army has been consistently shelling areas such as Uri, Tangdhar, Poonch, Rajouri, and Samba.

Attempts to target Jammu airport and other defense sites with drones and missiles were thwarted by an effective air defense system deployed by the Armed Forces.

Following the sirens warning of a potential attack, a complete blackout was observed in Jammu and Srinagar, although electricity has since been restored.

In light of the current situation, all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, will remain closed on Friday and Saturday across Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu and Kashmir's Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, emphasized the need for safety, leading to the closure of both private and government educational institutions.

Kashmir University's Registrar, Naseer Iqbal, confirmed that classes would also be suspended on Friday.
