Bomb Explosions Create Chaos in Shibpur

On Thursday, a series of homemade bomb explosions in the Shibpur slum of Howrah, West Bengal, led to a chaotic atmosphere, causing panic among residents and resulting in injuries. Eyewitnesses reported that the blasts sent bricks flying into the air, prompting people to flee in all directions to escape the danger. The situation escalated to the point where police were deployed in large numbers, and Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel were called in to restore order.


Political Tensions Escalate

Initial reports indicate that Manoj Khan, a leader from the BJP's minority cell, was targeted in the bomb attack. During the ensuing chaos, some rioters attempted to vandalize nearby shops. The violence resulted in multiple injuries, heightening the existing fear in the area. This incident occurred just days after the Trinamool Congress (TMC), led by Mamata Banerjee, suffered a significant electoral defeat to the BJP.


Allegations of Conspiracy

The BJP has accused the TMC of orchestrating the attacks, further intensifying political tensions in the region. Local residents reported that approximately seven homemade bombs exploded during the incident, and gunfire was heard at least twice. Authorities stated that police teams are investigating these claims and maintaining a strong presence in the area. Since the announcement of the West Bengal assembly election results on May 4, several incidents of violence have been reported.


Recent Violence in the Region

In a shocking incident on Wednesday night, the personal assistant of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the North 24 Parganas district. According to police, this occurred near Duharia on Jessore Road in the Madhyamgram area while the assistant, Chandranath Rath, was returning to his flat from Kolkata in his car. Officials reported that attackers on a motorcycle intercepted Rath's vehicle and opened fire at close range before fleeing the scene.
