Community Outrage Over Police Inaction
In Farrukhabad district, Uttar Pradesh, local residents expressed their anger on Saturday outside a police station after a body was discovered in a field, and they felt the police had not taken appropriate action. An official provided this information.
According to the officer, the incident occurred in the Jahanganj police jurisdiction, where law enforcement had to use force to disperse the crowd protesting outside the station. This led to the villagers retaliating by throwing stones at the police.
The police reported that a case has been registered based on a complaint from the deceased's father, and investigations are underway. The body of a truck driver from Nagla Chahar village was found in a cornfield, prompting the agitated villagers to bring the body to the police station after they felt initial police response was lacking.
The officer noted that as tensions escalated, police had to intervene forcefully, which resulted in the crowd attacking them with stones.
According to police, Anil Kumar, a resident of the village, alleged in his complaint that his 24-year-old son, Shivnandan, was abducted and brutally beaten by Bhiyas Prasad, Himanshu, Kalyan, Salok, Anuj, and others from Kori Kheda village.
Anil further claimed that the accused forced Shivnandan to consume a toxic substance, leading to his death. Villagers accused the police of initially hesitating to file a report when they arrived at the scene.
A confrontation occurred between the deceased's family and police officials, prompting law enforcement to use force to disperse the crowd. In response, the angry mob retaliated by throwing stones at the police station.
According to Circle Officer Rajesh Dwivedi, a case has been filed against five suspects based on the deceased's father's complaint, and an investigation is ongoing. He mentioned that after the situation calmed down, the body was cremated in the presence of police.
Police indicated that the incident may be linked to a romantic relationship between the deceased and a young woman. They confirmed that the investigation is still active, and several suspects have been detained.
