Voting Underway in West Bengal Assembly Elections

The second phase of the West Bengal Assembly elections is currently taking place across 142 constituencies in seven districts, with voters arriving to cast their ballots under tight security. To ensure smooth voting, both central forces and state police have been deployed at all polling stations. However, a tense situation arose in Kolkata after BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari visited a polling center, briefly disrupting the atmosphere before security forces intervened.

The Leader of the Opposition in the state and BJP candidate from Bhabanipur and Nandigram, Suvendu Adhikari, arrived at a polling station to assess the arrangements during the voting process. During his visit, a group of TMC supporters gathered around him, chanting "Jai Bengal." The crowd quickly surrounded him, leading to a tense situation at the polling center.


Security Forces Step In

Members of the Central Reserve Police Force and local police intervened to manage the situation. They resorted to a mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd and restore order.


Normalcy Restored at Polling Station

Following the intervention, the crowd was dispersed, and the normal voting process resumed at the polling station. Officials reported that the situation was quickly brought under control, allowing voting to continue without further disruptions.
