Tensions Rise Between Congress and BRS Over Election Promises
Escalating Tensions in Political Arena
The conflict between Congress and the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) intensified on Tuesday when K.T. Rama Rao, the executive president of BRS, claimed that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi deserves to be hanged for failing to fulfill electoral promises.
This statement from Rama Rao was a direct response to remarks made by Chief Minister E. Rajender Reddy, who suggested that hanging BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao and his nephew T. Harish Rao for the injustices faced by Telangana during the previous BRS government over river water disputes would not be inappropriate. This was stated during a rally in the district headquarters of Jangaon.
Rama Rao questioned whether K. Chandrashekar Rao, also known as KCR, should be punished for securing statehood for Telangana and implementing welfare programs such as the Rythu Bima scheme, Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme, and the Mission Bhagiratha drinking water supply initiative.
He further challenged, asking who truly deserves punishment. He recalled Rahul Gandhi's visit to Warangal, where farmers expressed that KCR was providing ₹10,000 under the Rythu Bandhu scheme, while they were promised ₹15,000. However, he noted that the promised amount was not delivered even for two crops, and now the farmers are receiving only ₹12,000 instead of the initially promised amount.
