Crisis Leads to Suspension of Major Cricket Events

The escalating tensions between India and Pakistan have culminated in the cancellation of both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This turmoil has prompted foreign players to prioritize their safety, leading many to seek immediate departure from the region.

Cricket Players

A number of international players stranded in Pakistan managed to reach Dubai. Bangladesh spinner Rishad Hossain reported that New Zealand cricketer Daryl Mitchell expressed his discontent, stating he would never return to Pakistan.

Speaking at the Dubai Airport, Rishad shared:

“Players like Sam Billings, Daryl Mitchell, Kushal Perera, David Wiese, and Tom Curran were all extremely frightened. Upon arriving in Dubai, Mitchell told me he would never visit Pakistan again, especially under such circumstances. They were all terrified.”

Rishad also mentioned that England's Tom Curran was particularly shaken, even shedding tears during the ordeal.

He recounted the difficulty in comforting Tom Curran, who became emotional at the airport.

“He (Tom Curran) arrived at the airport only to find it closed. He broke down in tears, and it took two or three people to calm him down,” Rishad added.

Although a ceasefire has been established between India and Pakistan, both cricket leagues remain on hold. IPL officials have announced a one-week suspension, with a decision regarding the future of the league to be made after this period.
