Tennis Premier League Season 7 Set to Kick Off in Ahmedabad
Excitement Builds for TPL Season 7
The highly anticipated Tennis Premier League (TPL) Season 7 is just a day away, scheduled to take place from December 9 to 14 at the Gujarat University Tennis Stadium in Ahmedabad. Eight teams are preparing to fiercely compete for the prestigious title.
This season, backed by tennis legends such as Leander Paes, Sania Mirza, and Mahesh Bhupathi, promises an exhilarating week of tennis as franchises engage in TPL's innovative and fast-paced format. Each team will participate in five league matches from December 9 to 13, with the top four teams advancing to the semi-finals and finals on December 14.
Unique Match Format
The TPL features a distinctive match format consisting of four rounds: Women's Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men's Singles, and Men's Doubles. Each round is worth 25 points, culminating in a total of 100 points per match.
Star-Studded Lineups
This season showcases a remarkable blend of international talent ranked within the top 50 globally, alongside India's finest players. Each franchise boasts a marquee player expected to lead their team.
The SG Pipers will be led by Rohan Bopanna, a two-time Grand Slam champion from India, supported by Shrivalli Bhamidipaty and Ramkumar Ramnathan.
The Rajasthan Rangers will feature Italy's World No. 26, Luciano Darderi, alongside Russia's Anastasia Gasanova and Dhakshineswar Suresh.
The Gurgaon Grand Slammers will rely on Daniel Evans from Britain, who achieved a career-high rank of No. 21 in 2023, along with India's top female player Sahaja Yamalapalli and Sriram Balaji.
Gujarat Panthers will be captained by France's World No. 42 Alexandre Muller, with Italy's Nuria Brancaccio and India's Anirudh Chandrasekhar.
Defending champions Hyderabad Strikers aim to reclaim the trophy with Spain's Pedro Martinez, currently ranked No. 93, joined by Carole Monnet from France and India's doubles veteran Vishnu Vardhan.
Yash Mumbai Eagles will feature Bosnia's former World No. 23 Damir Dzhumhur, Burundi's Sada Nahimana, and Indian player Niki Poonacha.
GS Delhi Aces will include Britain's No. 4 ranked player Billy Harris, 20-year-old Belgian Sofia Costoulas, and Indian left-hander Jeevan Nedunchezchiyan.
Chennai Smashers will count on Czech talent Dalibor Svrcina, Romania's Irina Bara, and Indian doubles specialist Rithvik Bollipalli.
