South Africa Prepares for WTC Final

South Africa is gearing up to take on Australia in the pivotal World Test Championship final at the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground. Captain Temba Bavuma revealed the playing XI during a press conference, expressing his belief that the team has a strong chance to clinch victory in this crucial match. Addressing the recent controversy surrounding Kagiso Rabada's drug ban, Bavuma stated that Rabada has openly communicated with the team, answering all questions from his teammates. He emphasized that they have moved past that incident and are now fully focused on the task at hand against Australia.

Bavuma's Insights on Rabada's Situation

Bavuma remarked, "In the last few weeks, as everything has unfolded, we have had discussions. He spoke to the team and made himself available for any further questions from me or the players. As far as we are concerned, that chapter is closed. We are here with a clear focus on our objectives." He further noted, "Rabada is in the best shape he has ever been, and the challenge of facing Australia adds to his motivation. He is definitely in a good mental space."

Details on Kagiso Rabada's Drug Ban

Kagiso Rabada faced a one-month suspension from cricket after testing positive for cocaine, as confirmed by the South African Institute for Drug-Free Sport (SAIDS), which adheres to World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) regulations. The results of the failed drug test were made public on June 3, revealing the presence of Benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine. This substance is produced when cocaine is processed in the liver and subsequently excreted in urine.
