Telangana CM Criticizes Central Government for Inadequate Crop Procurement
Chief Minister's Critique of Central Crop Procurement Policies
The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, has expressed strong disapproval of the central government's failure to purchase crops. In a recent statement, he accused the central authorities of merely announcing the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops like rice and maize without taking any further action. During a meeting with a delegation from the state's CPM, he discussed various issues including food procurement, the progress of the Musi rejuvenation project, and the need for reforms in the education system to provide quality education to underprivileged communities. Reddy urged the leftist leaders to unite against the central government's inadequate procurement, highlighting that less than 30% of the crops are being bought.
The statement emphasized, "The state government is the only entity purchasing every crop grown by farmers." The Chief Minister also informed the leftist leaders about the shortage of laborers in West Bengal due to elections. Furthermore, he noted that the ongoing heatwave has halted procurement processes at centers during the afternoon.

Continuously reviewing procurement processes, the Chief Minister stated that the state government is providing a bonus of ₹500 per quintal for high-quality rice and ensuring the MSP for maize to support farmers. Reddy also updated the leftist leaders on the relief being provided to those displaced along the Musi River under the Musi rejuvenation project, stating, "The government is approving housing for the displaced."
He emphasized that the Musi project aims to transform the riverbanks into a world-class tourist destination, creating significant employment opportunities for local youth. Reddy strongly objected to the opposition parties, BRS and BJP, politicizing the Musi project.

Reddy mentioned that reforms are underway to ensure quality education for the poor, including providing nutritious meals for breakfast and lunch, as well as establishing government schools in Telangana. He suggested that CPM leaders visit the Arutla Public School.
