Telangana Achieves Milestone in Pulse Polio Campaign
Significant Success in Pulse Polio Initiative
The Telangana government has marked a significant achievement in its Pulse Polio campaign. According to an official statement from the state health department, over 95% of the target was accomplished on the very first day of the initiative. Thanks to an extensive network of vaccination centers across the state, millions of children received their polio doses safely.
First Day Statistics: Over 3.8 Million Children Vaccinated
Health department data reveals that approximately 4.1 million children in Telangana are eligible for the polio vaccine. On the first day of the campaign, vaccination booths across the state administered polio drops to 3,895,550 children under the age of five, achieving 95.1% of the total target.
Health Minister Launches the Campaign
The statewide campaign was inaugurated by Telangana's Health Minister C. Damodar Rajanarasimha and other officials, who administered polio drops to children at an urban primary health center in Borabanda. The ministers praised the health workers and urged the public to ensure the campaign's complete success.
Next Two Days: Door-to-Door Outreach
Following the record vaccination on the first day, the health department is now preparing to reach the remaining children. According to the announcement, health workers and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) will conduct door-to-door visits over the next two days to ensure that no eligible child misses out on the polio vaccine.
