In Patna, Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, narrowly avoided serious injury when his convoy was involved in a significant accident while returning from Madhepura. The incident occurred around 1:30 AM on Saturday near the Goraul toll plaza on National Highway-22 in Vaishali district, where a runaway truck collided with one of the vehicles in his convoy at high speed.
Tejashwi explained that his convoy had stopped at a roadside tea stall when the truck unexpectedly struck one of their vehicles from behind, leading to a chaotic scene.
Fortunately, he was just five feet away from the impacted vehicle and escaped unharmed.
Describing the incident as 'very serious and worrying,' he noted that had the vehicle moved slightly further, the consequences could have been dire.
He emphasized the urgent need for a review of security measures for public officials.
Three members of his security detail were injured and were quickly taken to Sadar Hospital for treatment.
One individual suffered a head injury and is currently under observation, but all are reported to be stable.
Local police from Sarai Police Station responded promptly to the scene to manage the situation. The truck was stopped at the Goraul toll plaza, and the driver has been detained for questioning.
Authorities have initiated a formal investigation to determine the accident's cause.
