Tejashwi Yadav Urges Election Commission to Halt Voter List Revision in Bihar

Call for Suspension of Voter List Revision
Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), has formally requested the Election Commission to pause the special intensive revision of the voter list in Bihar until the upcoming assembly elections.
During a press conference held in the presence of allies from the opposition coalition 'India', Yadav, who serves as the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, made this appeal.
He asserted, "This exercise should be halted until the elections. The Election Commission needs to engage with its booth-level officials who are facing voter dissatisfaction while collecting data."
Yadav pointed out that the exclusion of widely held identification documents like Aadhaar cards and MGNREGA job cards from the acceptable proof of identity list is causing significant inconvenience to the public.
He remarked, "It is astonishing that Aadhaar cards, which are created after biometric verification and are intended to be linked to voter ID cards by the Election Commission, are not being accepted."
The leader urged the Election Commission to provide daily updates on the voter details categorized by assembly constituencies. He also called for the publication of information regarding the 'volunteers' assisting the booth-level officers as per the Election Commission's notification.
Yadav emphasized the need for transparency regarding the criteria for accepting individuals as volunteers, stating, "The standards behind accepting someone as a volunteer should also be disclosed."
He concluded by mentioning that they have consistently raised their concerns with the Election Commission and have even approached the Supreme Court for timely intervention.
