Tejashwi Yadav, a prominent leader of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, has characterized the results of the Bankipur assembly by-election as a clear verdict from the public against the BJP-led government in Bihar. During a press conference on Tuesday, he stated that the election results reflect the growing discontent among citizens regarding the state's governance. Yadav emphasized that the outcome is a direct response to the anger directed at the BJP government and its Chief Minister. He pointed out that the BJP has lost two significant elections within just 100 to 150 days, indicating that Samrat Choudhary has failed to earn the trust of the electorate. Instead of focusing on development, the government has prioritized negative politics, name changes, and harassing the opposition, leading voters to teach them a lesson.
Concerns Over Police Investigations
Yadav also criticized the police investigation into the deaths of two senior officials in Bihar, alleging attempts to shield influential individuals. He raised serious questions about the integrity of the police inquiry, asserting that the victim's family has valid concerns regarding the main accused, including LJP(RV) MLA Sonu Singh, being protected. He questioned how the police could finalize a murder theory before the post-mortem and forensic reports were available, noting that the driver involved has changed his statement multiple times and his wife claims he was coerced.
Call for Accountability and Justice
Describing the situation as extremely serious, Yadav accused the state government of failing to maintain law and order. He highlighted that two senior officials have been murdered in Bihar, yet the government and administration remain silent, allegedly protecting powerful individuals and criminals. He criticized the state's officials for operating in a climate of fear under a corrupt system, where bribery is rampant, and police investigations follow a predetermined script, violating the Indian Penal Code. Yadav demanded a fair investigation, urging the court to take suo motu cognizance of the case, and called for an FIR to be filed against the implicated legislator for murder and extortion. He insisted that the government should meet with the grieving family of the deceased official to address their grievances and that a thorough, transparent investigation into this orchestrated conspiracy is essential, with strict punishment for anyone found guilty, regardless of their influence.
