Tej Pratap Yadav's Independent Candidacy Announcement

Tej Pratap Yadav, a former minister in Bihar, has announced his intention to run as an independent candidate for the Mahua seat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Recently, he was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), a party founded by his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav.

Currently serving as the MLA for the Hasanpur seat in Samastipur district, Yadav stated during a press conference at his residence on Saturday evening, "Yes, this time I will contest from the Mahua Assembly seat as an independent candidate. My opponents will certainly face challenges."

He expressed confidence in his support from the public, noting that a significant number of people are connected through the social media platform 'Team Tej Pratap Yadav.'

Yadav asserted that after the assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would not retain his position, saying, "I firmly believe that Chacha (Nitish) will not become the Chief Minister... Those who form the government must focus on youth, employment, education, and health, and I will stand with them."

Background of Expulsion from RJD

On May 25, Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his son from the party for six years.

This decision followed Tej Pratap's acknowledgment of a relationship with a woman named Anushka on social media, which led to his removal from the party.

He later deleted the post from Facebook, claiming that his account had been 'hacked.'

Due to what Lalu Prasad termed Tej Pratap's 'irresponsible behavior,' he severed ties with him.

A few days after his expulsion, Tej Pratap alleged that there was a conspiracy to create rifts between him and his younger brother, Tejashwi Yadav.
