Teenager's Stomach Filled with 6 Kg of Hair: Shocking Medical Case
A Disturbing Discovery
In a startling medical case, doctors have extracted a massive 6 kg hairball from the stomach of a teenage girl. This unusual situation arose from the girl’s habit of pulling and consuming her own hair over the past six years.
Health Concerns
The 15-year-old girl, known by the pseudonym Nini, resides in Henan province, central China. Accompanied by her mother, she visited the Wuhan Children’s Hospital in the neighboring Hubei province. Reports from a state-run news website indicated that Nini was extremely underweight, standing at 1.6 meters tall but weighing only 35 kg. Additionally, she had not experienced her menstrual cycle for the past six months.
Severe Abdominal Pain
According to the South China Morning Post, Nini had complained to her mother about intense abdominal pain, which was so severe that it hindered her ability to eat. This prompted her mother to take her to the hospital for medical attention.
The Shocking Findings
Upon examination, doctors discovered that Nini was suffering from severe anemia. Her mother informed the medical team that her daughter had been consuming her hair for six years. An accumulation of hair and remnants of food had formed a large mass in her stomach. The extraction of this hairball left everyone astonished.
Similar Case in Jaipur
A similar incident was reported at the Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital in Jaipur, where a 14-year-old girl had a 210-centimeter hairball removed from her stomach. This was noted as the longest hairball extracted from a patient, surpassing the previous record of 180 centimeters.
The girl from Jaipur had been suffering from abdominal pain and vomiting for nearly a month. Upon investigation, doctors found a hard and lengthy mass in her stomach.
