Incident Reported at Meerut Medical College

A 15-year-old girl admitted for a leg surgery at a government medical college in Meerut was allegedly assaulted by a relative of another patient. The police confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Sunday night.


Senior Superintendent of Police Vipin Tada verified the incident, stating that the medical police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother.


The victim is scheduled for a medical examination today. According to police sources, she was admitted for surgery on June 20, and a young man named Mohit from Kashipur, Uttarakhand, was also in the same ward.


The victim's mother reported that on the night of the incident, her daughter went to the restroom, where Mohit's brother, Rohit, allegedly assaulted her and threatened her life if she resisted. The girl remained silent for two days out of fear but eventually disclosed the incident to her mother on Sunday evening, leading to the filing of a complaint at the medical police station.


Medical police station in-charge Shailesh Kumar Yadav confirmed that Rohit, aged 20, has been apprehended. Ayush Vikram Singh, the Additional Superintendent of Police (City), mentioned that an investigation is underway regarding the role of the staff on duty, and CCTV footage is being reviewed. Strict action will be taken against anyone found culpable.
