New Delhi, September 22: A distressing event has emerged involving a 17-year-old girl who was gang-raped by three individuals impersonating police officers at a park close to Kalkaji Mandir in Delhi, as reported by officials.
The incident occurred when the girl and her friend visited the temple around 7 p.m. on a Monday evening.
After their prayers, they proceeded to a nearby park at approximately 7:30 p.m. It was then that three men, estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, approached them, falsely claiming to be law enforcement officers, according to the victim's account.
Officials indicated that the men threatened both individuals and subsequently assaulted the girl.
The police received a PCR call regarding the incident at 8:45 p.m., prompting a team to respond to the location.
One of the suspects, identified as Asif, was captured following a confrontation with law enforcement, during which he sustained a gunshot injury and is currently receiving medical treatment, according to officials.
Authorities are actively investigating the case and are working to apprehend the other two suspects.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another alarming case where a sixth-grade student was sexually assaulted inside a shop in Delhi's Sadar Bazaar area. The young girl was reportedly tied up and assaulted after being lured into the establishment while out to buy stationery.
The police were alerted to this incident on the night of September 16, leading to the arrest of the 56-year-old shopkeeper, Maqsood, who was subsequently placed in judicial custody after legal procedures were followed.
Earlier, on September 13, another tragic case surfaced involving the gang rape and murder of a teenage girl by four individuals, including three minors. The police reported that the accused abandoned her body in an open area, which was later found in a severely decomposed state, with parts having been consumed by stray dogs.
The discovery of the victim's remains near a field along Kushak Road in North Delhi highlighted the dire state of safety for women and girls in the national capital.
