Teenager Seeks Forgiveness After Controversial Protest
A young protester, accused of using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on July 23, has publicly apologized in a viral video. Now identifying herself as 15 years old, she explained that she was influenced by others chanting offensive slogans against the Prime Minister after visiting Connaught Place with friends. In the video, she is seen with her hands folded, expressing remorse. However, the authenticity of this video has not been independently verified.
She stated, "I was swayed by the crowd. I am only 15 years old. What I did is not worthy of forgiveness. I said many bad things." Describing this incident as her first and last mistake, she added, "I apologize to the entire nation. I am feeling very embarrassed. I can't even look at myself in the mirror. Please forgive me." This video surfaced shortly after Prime Minister Modi released a message on Instagram, where he mentioned forgiving the students who insulted him during the protest and urged society to guide them rather than punish them. Modi remarked that the offensive words directed at him and his late mother were distressing but emphasized that young people should be given a chance to learn from their mistakes.
On July 23, a Zero FIR was filed against the protester at the Noida Expressway police station for allegedly making derogatory remarks. According to the complaint, the individual used offensive language against the Prime Minister, which reportedly undermined the dignity of a constitutional position. The complaint also alleged that these comments were made with the intent to spread hatred and disrupt public peace. The police registered the case under sections 352, 353(1), and 356(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). This Zero FIR was later transferred to the Parliament Street police station in Delhi, which will now investigate the matter and proceed with legal actions. Reports indicate that the protester resides with her mother in a housing society in Noida. Her apartment has been locked since the protest, and security personnel stated that she has not returned since the incident. The police have also visited the society as part of their ongoing investigation and have questioned residents.
