Mumbai, April 10: A disturbing incident of molestation and sexual harassment has emerged from a tech company in Nashik, Maharashtra, leading to the arrest of the firm's Human Resource (HR) official. This arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged organized racket that has reportedly been active for three to four years.

The arrested HR official, Ashwini Ashok Chainani, was apprehended in Pune's Loola Nagar after initial inquiries revealed that he failed to address the complaints raised by victims and delayed taking action.

A formal case has been registered under Crime Registration Number 163/2026, invoking various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita.

Authorities are currently questioning Chainani regarding the severe violations against female employees at the corporate office and his alleged negligence in responding to their complaints.

The shocking revelations of harassment faced by women at the Nashik tech office, located approximately 200 kilometers from Mumbai, have sent ripples through both the police and local administration.

In response to allegations of sexual harassment and forced conversions, law enforcement has arrested at least six individuals, with the HR official being the seventh suspect taken into custody.

So far, nine First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed across various police stations, with six arrests made in connection to the case.

Victims have reported enduring sexual harassment and threats for around three to four years, with some facing bullying and religious discrimination.

Due to the serious nature of the allegations, the state government has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the claims of harassment and conversion.

Most complainants are reportedly aged between 18 and 25 and come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, which the accused allegedly exploited to perpetrate ongoing harassment and inappropriate advances.

Some victims had previously filed complaints with the company's HR under the POSH Act, which aims to prevent and address sexual harassment in the workplace, but they claim no action was taken.

The police have arrested the HR official for allegedly covering up the harassment incidents and neglecting the complaints made by the victims.
