Teacher Assaulted in West Bengal for Opposing Public Drinking
Incident of Violence Against Teacher
In Belgharia, located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, a drawing teacher was reportedly assaulted by a group of young individuals. This violent act occurred on Saturday morning when the teacher confronted them about their public drinking.
The altercation took place in the Nandanagar area, specifically within Ward No. 31 of the Kamarhati Municipality, leading to heightened tensions in the community.
The victim, identified as Nirupam Pal, was returning home after attending a Kali Puja invitation when he encountered four young men and a woman drinking alcohol on the street. Upon requesting them to cease their public consumption, he was allegedly attacked.
Pal suffered injuries to his chest, face, and eyes, describing the assault as merciless. He has called on law enforcement to take decisive action against the assailants, fearing they may retaliate.
Tragic Road Accident in Bihar Claims Eight Lives
In a separate incident, a tragic road accident in Bihar resulted in the deaths of eight individuals on Saturday morning. The collision occurred on the Daniyawan-Hilsa road within the jurisdiction of the Shahjahanpur police station, located in the Daniyawan block.
All victims hailed from Reddy Malama village, situated under the Hilsa police station in Nalanda district. They were en route to Fatuha for a holy dip in the Ganga at Triveni Sangam, as reported by the police.
According to the District Magistrate of Patna, the accident transpired around 6:45 AM when an auto-rickshaw collided with a heavy vehicle, specifically a Hyva. The unfortunate event resulted in eight fatalities, while the injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital.
