Tanvi Sharma Shines in Quarterfinals

On Friday, India's Tanvi Sharma showcased her talent by advancing to the semifinals of the Orleans Masters 2026. The young badminton player triumphed over Japan's sixth seed Natsuki Nidaira, winning in straight sets with scores of 21-14, 21-14 in a match that lasted 43 minutes. Her next challenge will be against fifth seed and Olympic bronze medalist Nozomi Okuhara from Japan, as she aims for her second final appearance at a BWF Super 300 event.


Mixed Results for Indian Players

In contrast, India's Hariharan Amsakarunan and MR Arjun faced elimination from the Orleans Masters 2026 after their quarterfinal match against the third-seeded Indonesian duo of Leo Rolly Carnando and Bagas Maulana.


Path to the Quarterfinals

Earlier in the tournament, Tanvi, who is a silver medalist from the World Junior Championships, achieved a significant victory over Thailand's second seed Supanida Katethong on the first day. She then faced fellow Indian player Anmol Kharb in the round of 16, winning decisively with scores of 21-14, 21-17 to secure her spot in the quarterfinals.


In men's doubles, Hariharan and Arjun had a strong showing against Scotland's Alexander Dunn and Adam Pringle in their round of 16 match on March 19. They won a tightly contested first game 26-24 and dominated the second game 21-14, completing the match in 35 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals.


Ayush Shetty Exits the Tournament

Meanwhile, Indian player Ayush Shetty also exited the Orleans Open after a quarterfinal defeat. The 20-year-old lost to Japan's Yudai Okimoto in a two-game match, with scores of 21-9, 18-21, 9-21.
