Tamil Nadu's New Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay Takes Charge of Key Ministries
C Joseph Vijay's Ministerial Responsibilities
Chennai: In a significant move, Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has taken on crucial responsibilities, overseeing key areas such as police, general administration, and the welfare of women, youth, and children. Veteran politician K A Sengottaiyan has been appointed as the Finance Minister, as announced by the Lok Bhavan on Saturday.
By retaining the Home portfolio, Vijay aligns with the tradition of Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers who typically manage this vital department themselves.
The allocation of portfolios for all ten ministers, including Vijay, received approval from Governor Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar, following the Chief Minister's recommendations, according to a press release from the Tamil Nadu Lok Bhavan.
These portfolio assignments were finalized just a week after Vijay's council of ministers was sworn in on May 10.
As per the Lok Bhavan's announcement, Vijay's responsibilities encompass public administration, police, welfare initiatives for women and youth, as well as support for children, the elderly, differently-abled individuals, municipal governance, and urban water supply.
N Anand has been appointed as the minister for rural development and water resources, while Aadhav Arjuna will oversee public works, including buildings, highways, and minor ports, along with sports development. Dr K G Arunraj will manage health, medical education, and family welfare, as stated in the release.
P Venkataramanan has been assigned the portfolio for Food and Civil Supplies, whereas R Nirmalkumar will handle Energy Resources and Law.
Rajmohan will serve as the Minister for School Education, Tamil Development, Information, and Publicity.
Lastly, Dr TK Prabhu will oversee Natural Resources, Minerals, and Mines, while S Keerthana will be responsible for industries, as per the release.
