Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister Launches 'Ungaludan Stalin' Initiative for Direct Citizen Services

Launch of the 'Ungaludan Stalin' Initiative
Cuddalore, July 15: Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M.K. Stalin introduced the 'Ungaludan Stalin (With You, Stalin)' initiative in Chidambaram, located in Cuddalore district, on Tuesday. This program is designed to provide a variety of government services directly to citizens, particularly targeting those who require immediate assistance.
The initiative commenced with the Chief Minister inaugurating a dedicated grievance redressal camp, which is part of a larger statewide effort that includes over 10,000 such camps—3,768 in urban settings and 6,232 in rural areas.
Running until November, the scheme aims to encompass all districts and panchayats throughout Tamil Nadu.
As part of the outreach, over 100,000 trained volunteers have visited homes statewide to distribute informational materials, gather grievances, and inform residents about the camp schedules and available services.
The camps will provide services from 13 departments in urban areas and 15 in rural areas, covering 43 and 46 different services, respectively. Citizens can apply for various welfare programs, land records, caste and income certificates, corrections in official documents, old age pensions, and more.
Revenue Secretary P. Amudha mentioned that all applications submitted through these camps will be addressed within 45 days. If citizens are dissatisfied with the results or if their applications are denied, they will have the opportunity to reapply or seek further clarification.
To facilitate effective implementation and oversight, four senior IAS officers—J. Radhakrishnan, Gagandeep Singh Bedi, Dheeraj Kumar, and P. Amudha—have been designated as official spokespersons and supervisory authorities.
In Chennai, 400 camps are planned across 200 wards, while Coimbatore will implement the program in four phases with 334 camps. The Nilgiris district will also host 146 camps in three phases.
The launch event in Chidambaram was conducted under strict security measures and attracted thousands of attendees, including party supporters.
During the inauguration, CM Stalin paid floral tributes at the memorials of K. Kamaraj and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
While the government promotes this initiative as a revolutionary model for citizen services, opposition parties, including BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan, have criticized it as a political maneuver ahead of the 2026 elections.
