In a significant development for Indian sports, Tamil Nadu is poised to host the Asian Tennis Ball Cricket Championship 2026, marking its inaugural event in this prestigious tournament's history. The Tamil Nadu Tennis Ball Cricket Association (TNTBCA) is organizing the championship under the auspices of the Tennis Ball Cricket Federation of India (TBCFI), which is officially recognized by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYA&S), the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT). The competition will take place over four action-packed days from October 26 to October 29, 2026, at KCG College in Karapakkam, Chennai, featuring around 600 elite players.
Logo and Jersey Unveiling by PV Sindhu
The championship's official logo and jersey were revealed during a ceremony at Hotel Ramada in Guindy, Chennai. The event was attended by renowned badminton player and multiple Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, who served as the Chief Guest. Sindhu, who earned a Silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympics and a Bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, added prestige to the occasion. Her involvement underscored the increasing global recognition of tennis ball cricket and served as motivation for the athletes participating in the tournament.

Sindhu, who made headlines in July by becoming the first Indian to win the Japan Open Super 750 title, recently faced a tough defeat against China's Wang Zhiyi in the women's singles pre-quarterfinals of the BWF World Championships 2026. Looking ahead, she expressed her excitement for the upcoming Asian Games, stating, "We're leaving for the Asian Games soon. Really looking forward to it."
