BJP Candidate Files Nomination

On Monday, Tamilisai Soundararajan, the candidate from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), submitted her nomination for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections in the Mylapore constituency, accompanied by Union Minister Piyush Goyal. After filing her nomination, Soundararajan expressed optimism about the party's prospects, making a symbolic remark that nature itself has signaled – the sun is absent, yet the lotus will bloom in the flooded ponds.

Criticism of the Current Government

Union Minister Piyush Goyal criticized the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. He accused the state administration of being plagued by corruption and dynastic politics, asserting that there is no clear development agenda for Chennai and Mylapore. Goyal stated that the lotus will bloom, emphasizing that the Stalin government, riddled with corruption and dynastic politics, lacks a plan for the people of Chennai and Mylapore. He pointed out the government's failure during floods and highlighted the issue of substance abuse affecting the youth's future, stating that the state is now demanding a return to good governance.

Allegations Against CM Stalin

Goyal accused Chief Minister Stalin of spreading 'false claims' out of fear of electoral defeat. He lamented that the Chief Minister seems to foresee his own loss, leading him to fabricate daily falsehoods. He challenged Stalin to provide evidence of the Election Commission's approval for a supposed roadshow by the Prime Minister, asserting that it reflects Stalin's failure as a leader. Goyal also challenged Stalin to show where in the National Education Policy it states that Hindi is mandatory, asserting that Tamil is their pride and they want future generations to learn the language and respect their traditions and values. He confidently stated that Udhayanidhi will not become Chief Minister due to Stalin's false promises, predicting that Edappadi K. Palaniswami will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

Upcoming Elections

The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled for April 23, with vote counting taking place on May 4. The main contest is expected to be between the secular progressive alliance (SPA) led by the DMK, which includes Congress, DMDK, and VCK, and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by AIADMK, which includes BJP and PMK as allies. Additionally, actor-turned-politician Vijay is entering the fray with the Tamil Vikatam Kachi, potentially leading to a triangular contest in the elections.
