Tamil Nadu CM Responds to Amit Shah's Allegations on Hindu Rights
Stalin Defends Religious Rights in Tamil Nadu
The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, firmly rejected the claims made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, stating that the assertion that Hindus' rights are being infringed upon in Tamil Nadu is completely unfounded and inappropriate for someone in his position. Speaking at a government event, Stalin emphasized that his administration respects the beliefs of all religions and is committed to safeguarding their religious rights.
He remarked, “In a state like Tamil Nadu, the Home Minister's allegation that Hindus are losing their rights is utterly incorrect and does not align with the dignity of his office. The reality is that those who wish to incite riots and division in the state have not succeeded.” Stalin assured that such incidents would not occur in the future, stating, “We will not allow this to happen.”
The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party asserted, “As long as Stalin is here, this will not happen.” Amit Shah had previously accused the DMK during a public rally in Pudukkottai, Tamil Nadu, of consistently disrespecting Hinduism and the sentiments of Hindus. The senior leader of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the Stalin government for alleged atrocities against Hindus.
Shah further alleged that there has been a ‘disrespect’ towards Hindu worship practices and claimed that an ‘undeclared curfew’ was imposed during the land worship ceremony for the Ayodhya Ram Temple. He stated, “Their (DMK's) senior leaders refer to Sanatan Dharma as dengue and malaria. Restrictions have been placed on Hindu processions and the immersion of idols. I want to tell Stalin that by perpetrating atrocities against Hindus, you have violated constitutional values.”
