Chief Minister's Official Visit to Delhi
On Wednesday, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay of Tamil Nadu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address various state-related matters. Earlier in the day, Vijay arrived in New Delhi for his first official trip since taking office earlier this month. Accompanying him were Tamil Nadu ministers, including Aadav Arjun and several senior officials.
While the detailed official itinerary of the visit has not been released, sources indicate that Vijay is also expected to meet with President Droupadi Murmu, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and other central ministers.
Financial Support for Ongoing Projects
During his meeting with Sitharaman, Vijay may request financial assistance for ongoing projects and significant inter-state issues related to the state. He is likely to present a memorandum outlining Tamil Nadu's demands, which include funding allocations for welfare and infrastructure projects, approvals for development initiatives, the Mekedatu issue, and the implementation of the PM Shri scheme.
Future Meetings and Political Developments
Following the elections where Congress formed an alliance with Vijay's government, he is anticipated to meet with Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. According to the proposed schedule, Vijay is expected to return to Chennai on May 28. The founder of the Tamilga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) took the oath of office as Chief Minister on May 10 after leading his party to victory in the Tamil Nadu elections held on April 23.
