Financial Support for Women Under Kalignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Scheme

The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, has announced that the May installment of the Kalignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme will be disbursed to women soon. This initiative provides financial assistance of ₹1,000 to eligible women and was initiated by the previous Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government, named in honor of the party's prominent leader, M. Karunanidhi.


According to a statement released by Vijay's office, the funds will be directly credited to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. The announcement emphasized that the government requires time to restructure the Kalignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which allocates ₹1,000 to women. Chief Minister Joseph Vijay has instructed that the May installment of ₹1,000 be deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries without delay.


Ahead of the state assembly elections, Vijay's party, Tamilga Vetrik Kazhagam (TVK), had pledged to provide monthly assistance of ₹2,500 to women under the age of 60.
