Annamalai's Meeting with Amit Shah

On Monday, K. Annamalai, the former president of the Tamil Nadu BJP, had a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, as speculation about his future in the party continues. Annamalai also met with BJP National President Nitin Nabin and senior leader B.L. Santosh. When asked about rumors circulating on social media regarding his potential departure from the party to form a new political entity, he responded by asking everyone to wait, stating that discussions would take place in two days.

Political Climate in Tamil Nadu

His remarks come amid intense discussions on social media regarding his next political move. Ahead of Annamalai's birthday on June 4, posters with slogans like 'Our Leader, Come Lead Us' have been displayed prominently on major streets and alleys in Coimbatore. This significant political shift follows the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, which marked a historic turning point in the state's politics, as the TVK party won 108 seats in its debut, ending the long-standing dominance of the DMK and AIADMK. Following this victory, Vijay took office as the 13th Chief Minister of the state at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat in Chennai.

Vijay's New Cabinet and Vision

Vijay, who secured the support of 120 legislators in the 234-member state assembly, was sworn in alongside Governor Arlekar and the new cabinet members. The cabinet includes ministers such as 'Bussi' N. Anand, Aadav Arjun, K.A. Sengottaiyan, K.G. Arunraj, P. Venkataramanan, C.T.R. Nirmal Kumar, A. Rajmohan, Keertana, and K.T. Prabhu. In his inaugural speech as Chief Minister, Vijay expressed gratitude to the public for their trust and called for a 'new era' of governance based on secularism and social justice. Amid cheers from supporters and party workers, he stated, 'Let us together give Tamil Nadu a new government. This is a new beginning, the start of a new era of secularism and social justice.'
