The Election Commission of India has officially announced the schedule for the assembly elections in Tamil Nadu and four other states during a press conference today. The battle for power in all 234 constituencies of Tamil Nadu has commenced. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the voting date was set considering local festivals and security measures. This election will be conducted in a single phase.

According to the Election Commission, voting in Tamil Nadu will take place on April 23.
