Yoga guru Swami Ramdev has recently expressed his disapproval of student protests. He urged the youth to focus on skill development rather than engaging in disruptive demonstrations, emphasizing that such actions do not contribute to the nation's progress. Ramdev argued that merely changing the education minister will not lead to significant improvements in the education system. In a conversation with a news media outlet, he acknowledged the shortcomings in India's political, educational, and healthcare systems but stressed that protests should be conducted in a democratic and respectful manner.
Constructive Approaches Over Disruption
Ramdev stated that chaos, vandalism, and abusive language on the streets will not propel the country forward. He highlighted the importance of not only protesting but also considering how to build the nation. The common goal should be to create a developed India, which cannot be achieved through disorderly conduct. Criticizing current protest methods, he noted that young people are taking to the streets, dancing, and chanting slogans for 'freedom,' which he believes is unproductive. He encouraged the youth to become capable individuals who can contribute positively to the country and hold the government accountable.
On the Education Minister's Resignation
Regarding the resignation of the central education minister, Ramdev questioned what changes would occur in the education system if the minister stepped down. He asked whether this would lead to job opportunities for the youth or reduce inflation. He emphasized that real change comes from the hard work of students and effective policies. While the government must be held accountable, simply replacing one individual will not bring about transformation; systemic change and diligence are essential.
Cultural Values and Youth Behavior
Concluding his remarks, Ramdev stated that children should aspire to be 'skilled' rather than 'abusive.' He referenced Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent video message, where the PM expressed forgiveness towards children but condemned the use of foul language, which he stated is not part of Indian culture. In the video shared on Instagram, Modi addressed the inappropriate language used during protests at Jantar Mantar, noting that such language harms societal cultural sentiments, especially when used by young women, and acknowledged the public's anger regarding this issue.
