Swami Ramdev Accuses Conspiracy Against Sanatan Dharma
Allegations Against Historical Misinterpretations
In Haridwar, yoga guru Swami Ramdev has made serious allegations regarding a deliberate attempt to tarnish the image of Sanatan Dharma. During a press conference, he asserted that during the Mughal era and British rule, there were intentional misinterpretations of Hindu scriptures, aimed at creating lasting divisions and animosity within Indian society.
Core Principles of Sanatan Dharma
Swami Ramdev emphasized that Sanatan Dharma is fundamentally rooted in equality, social harmony, universality, and a scientific outlook, leaving no room for discrimination or disrespect.
He referenced ongoing contemporary debates surrounding religious texts and cultural traditions, citing verses from ancient scriptures like Manusmriti and Valmiki Ramayana. He claimed that certain references in these texts were deliberately added or misinterpreted to negatively portray Sanatan Dharma and its sacred traditions.
Misleading Narratives in Scriptures
The guru accused the Valmiki Ramayana of containing misleading narratives suggesting that Lord Ram and Mother Sita consumed meat or alcohol, or that Lord Ram disrespected Shudras and women. He labeled these alterations as significant religious, spiritual, and cultural offenses, alleging that political figures have protected those responsible for such acts.
Social Structure and Misrepresentation
Discussing social structure, Ramdev stated that the division of Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras was based on individual actions rather than birth. However, he noted that this distinction has been misrepresented over time to divide society. He claimed that narrow religious and political interests have attempted to alienate approximately 300 to 400 million people from Sanatan Dharma.
Recalling the principle of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam', he asserted that Sanatan Dharma views the entire Earth as one family and advocates for the welfare of all humanity beyond borders. He also mentioned that over 1.5 billion people worldwide are connected to Sanatan traditions, including the ancestors of the majority Muslim community in India, who were ancient sages.
Global Influence of Yoga and Ayurveda
Highlighting the growing global influence of yoga and Ayurveda, Swami Ramdev stated that the principles of Sanatan Dharma stand the test of authenticity and scientific scrutiny. He accused certain forces of attempting to weaken Sanatan Dharma through deception and confusion, clarifying that merely being written in Sanskrit does not make a text a scripture; its ideas and principles must be universal, beneficial, and eternal.
