Suspicious Package Found Ahead of PM Modi's Bengaluru Visit Raises Security Concerns
Suspicious Discovery Near PM Modi's Route
On the eve of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bengaluru, authorities discovered a suspicious package containing two sticks of gelatin in the outskirts of the city. A team from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has been dispatched to the site, which is located along the route intended for the Prime Minister's convoy. The NIA will collaborate with local police in the investigation.
According to officials, the NIA team is heading to the location where the suspicious package was found. The area is significant as it was scheduled to be traversed by PM Modi's convoy on Sunday. Local law enforcement will assist the NIA in the ongoing investigation.
Details of the Investigation
During surveillance in the area, a police constable conducting anti-sabotage checks discovered the package approximately 25 feet from a compound wall. Upon receiving the report, the monitoring team arrived at the scene and recovered the two sticks of gelatin. The area was subsequently secured, and no suspects have been arrested as the investigation is underway, with special teams formed to identify potential culprits.
Increased Security Measures
The gelatin sticks were found near the roadside close to the venue for PM Modi's event in the outskirts of Bengaluru, prompting an escalation in security measures and a police investigation into the source of the explosives. Authorities are probing whether the discovery of the gelatin sticks indicates a larger conspiracy. The sticks were located during routine security checks in the Kaggalipura police jurisdiction, not far from the route associated with the Prime Minister's travel itinerary. This find occurred just before a comprehensive search operation was conducted in the area ahead of the Prime Minister's arrival.
PM Modi's Event and Security Preparations
PM Modi was in Bengaluru to attend the 45th anniversary of the 'Art of Living Center' located on Kanakapura Road. In a statement, police noted that the gelatin sticks were discovered on a sidewalk approximately three kilometers from the main event site prior to the Prime Minister's arrival on Sunday morning. A seven-tier security arrangement had been established for the visit, with police and security agencies inspecting travel routes a week in advance. Following the discovery, security agencies were put on high alert, and bomb disposal units along with forensic teams were dispatched to the scene to examine the explosive materials.
